Time Well Wasted

Lately...

I have been so busy lately.  I just finished parent-teacher conferences last week, I can't believe we are already done with our second trimester.  This year has flown by, yet I feel like I have lots left to do with my students before sending them on to first grade.  I was reminded this week what a blessing my job has been.  It is so evident to me that the way in which my job became available, how I got connected with the right people at the right time, how all the other interviews I did that summer didn't work, and the amazing people I work with was a plan orchestrated by God.  I really like my job and hope to stay there awhile.

I don't have big plans, if any, for spring break.  This seems very odd to me b/c since I came to college I have always went on a mission trip with the BSU for spring break.  ALthough, I am thinking that it will be kind of nice.  I will have some time to do a few things I have been waiting to get done at home and in my classroom. I am hoping that maybe we can go somewhere not terribly far away for a few days (Chicago, St. Louis, KC).

Well tomorrow my younger sister and I are having the baby shower for our youngest sister.  I am really excited to do something special for her and my soon to be niece (late April).  I found out today that my younger sister (Cecilia's mom) is going to have another baby.  So, in October/November I will have a third niece or nephew. So, now I am off to get things together to go home tomorrow morning for the fun.  Have a great week guys and enjoy the warmer weather.

Girls Night Out

Okay so here I am updating.  I hope you enjoy. :)

I got to go home and be with some of my closest friends from high school for one of my best friends bridal shower/bachlorette party.  We went to Kansas City and went to Toby Kieth's Bar and Grill.  It was a blast.  It wasn't a trashy bar at all like you would expect.  They had super comfy chairs, lots of space, and an awesome band.  It is weird how long it has been since I have spent that much time with those ladies.  Several of them are married or about to be, I am happy for them but sometimes I feel like I have missed so much.  I love all the friends that I have from college and from Columbia, they are apart of who I am and a huge part of my relationship with God.  It is just really odd b/c in high school and the first year or so of college I never dreamt that I could make anymore friends that were that close to me, nor did I think I wanted to.  Oh, how wrong I was.  There have been so many times that I needed friends that were physically close to me and my Awesome God provided in a big way.  I am so thankful for you guys, and I pray that I am able to be the kind of friend to y'all that God allowed you to be for me.

Yeah, I know that was super cheesy so help me out.  Tell me your favorite stupid/silly story about our friendship.

So it has been a long time since I posted on xanga.  I think I am going to attempt to stay up to date with everyone on here again.

I guess you are wondering what is going on with me.  School is going pretty well.  I have a great class and I really enjoy my students, the second year is much more relaxed than the first year.  I feel like I have some idea of what is going on throughout the year.

I am going to be an aunt again in April, we found out a little while ago that it will be a girl.

I am coaching Upward again this year. I have 3rd and 4th grade boys and they are doing an awesome job and we are having lots of fun.  I love seeing how excited they get when they make a goal or steal a ball, they get so excited.

Jacob and I are still dating.  We got to go to the Brad Paisley concert.  We had seats in the floor section, it was awesome.  We spent the holidays with each other, and he gave me a really cool pair of cowboy boots for Christmas, to wear when we go riding horses.

I guess that doesn't seem like much to update you on since I haven't updated since August but that is all I have for now.  If you want to ask a specific question I will answer it on here.  Plus I am sure I will think of a few things to add in the next couple of weeks.  Until next time:)

Back in Como

Well I have been back for about a week now and I feel like I still have not slowed down.  So instead of getting some of that done I decided to change the look of xanga (what do you think) and the picture, and add a new post.

Did you notice the black eye in the picture? I took a full speed curve ball to the eye.  It's nice isn't it?  I can say I am a bit proud of this one.

Canada was beautiful but strange.  Going with crusaders was just amazing as it always is.  Our team really got to live out an example for the people of the "young" church we worked with.  Canada doesn't have much of a church/religious history so it is difficult for them to have large or thriving churches.  Most of the churches have 100-150 people or less and most don't meet in their own buildings, they rent space at a community center or else where.  Anyways,  God blessed me with another chance to share my love of basketball with children while also showing them the love he had for them.  This camp was very different than the camps I have done here in the states.  The kids were not passionate about sports at all and many of them had never really played the sports we were teaching (soccer, basketball and baseball).  The families we stayed with were very nice to us but different than the kind of homes that we usually stay in when doing camp in Missouri.

Canada is a funny place.  They appear to be so much like the US but they are not.  They say funny things like "eh!" instead of huh or what.  They take their shoes off at the door, call tennis shoes runners, and the letter z is called zed.  One of their favorite fast food treats is called poutine; it is frech fries with brown gravy and mozzeralla cheese curds.  I am not a huge fan.  Their Wal-Mart is completly different, it doesn't carry as much stuff and it is set up very akwardly.  There are lots of other funny little things that I willl have to fill you in on later.

I love flying.  This was my first time flying that I can recall.  I flew to Flordia when I was two but don't remember that I love taking off!!!  Landing is okay but I kept feeling like I was slipping out of my seat belt.

So, since I have been back I have been working at school to get ready for school which starts on Aug. 23.  I am excited to be getting to teach kindergarten at the same school again this year.  I think it will be a good year.

Well  I need to clean up some stuff that has been laying in my room since I returned from Canada and then get to sleep.  Hope everyone is having a good end of the summer, if I haven't seen you this summer hope to see you soon

PS If anybody wants to come over tomorrow night anytime after 7PM we are having people over to play cards, games, watch movies, whatever people feel like doing.  Bring a snack or drink to share.  Call me if you don't know where I live or have other questions.
